It’s hard to believe that we are in our last week of SSP and our final project is complete! This week, we held a screening of our completed documentary, Healing 60619: Depths of Community Relations, and round-table discussion for those who participated in the film. It was a very successful event and sparked a lot of dialogue among participants.
As we wrap up the summer, our team has reflected on what we’ve learned this summer through SSP. We all think we have grown in being able to work with people of different backgrounds and discovered our own strengths and skills we bring to a team. Additionally, we have learned how to listen to other perspectives and dialogue with people who may think differently than we do. More specifically, we have learned a lot about how to improve the relationship between police officers and community members and how we can work together to reduce violence in our communities.
We had a really great summer, and we look forward to using our documentary and the knowledge and skills we’ve gained in the future!
