Frances: Hello and welcome to SSP and Team South Chicago! I’m a rising fourth year undergraduate student studying biology with hopes to go to medical school. I’m from Riverside originally but have lived in Hyde Park for the last three years. Walking around the neighborhood yesterday, we were able to see an abundance of service opportunities, and we’re excited to hear your interests and hit the ground running. I took a picture of the South Chicago branch of the Chicago Public Library, one of the great sites that are within a few blocks of our host site. I’m so excited to get to know the Youth Leaders and hopefully we can stop by this place soon!

Lauren: I cannot wait to meet you all and officially become a team together! I am excited to continue to explore the community of South Chicago with you all and learn from your expertise about the neighborhood and surrounding communities. I am a second year social work student at the University of Chicago and live in the Garfield Park neighborhood on the west side. I’ve been in Chicago for 9 years and consider it my “chosen home.” In my spare time, I like doing things that smell good–baking sweets, reading while burning incense or candles, and making lotions, balms, and beauty products.

Jordan: Hey y’all! I’m really excited to finally get to meet all of you. I am currently a second year social work graduate student at the University of Chicago and live in the Hyde Park/Woodlawn neighborhood. Although I am technically from the Chicago-area, I also consider Austin, Texas home for me as well. I love music, dance, riding my bike and basically anything that involves being outside. I’m really looking forward to getting to know the South Chicago neighborhood more extensively, and am already loving the awesome art installments I’ve seen on buildings in the community. Can’t wait to get to know you all and spend our summers together!
